The painting features a lot of scarlet, which I often use to depict love or associated feelings. The painting to me perfectly encapsulated a time in my life when I was fighting with conflicting emotions. The white void, which the composition allows, signifies the other side of this emotional instability, where I would find myself feeling nothing at all.
