Scarlet Moonset (Rennala I), Oil on Canvas (57 x 42), 2025. This painting features a composition defined by a large moon, with two sheep standing in the foreground. I wanted this painting to evoke a certain sense of profoundness. The placement of the moon and the eyes of the sheep should also suggest a connection.
This is another painting where I used only symbolically important elements while trying to keep the effect of the composition as concise as possible. It draws in certain parts from the Narcissus series. The painting is dedicated to my best friend, as an homage to our friendship. Many of the symbolisms serve as remembrances for beautiful memories we share. Fundamentally, it is a display of gratitude for the fact that I have such a person, someone who I would consider to be a role model in many ways.
The composition was inspired by the artist Cherrygunk (Mabry Anderson).
