Saltum Romanticism, Oil on Board (80 x 60), 2024. This painting is a plain-air study of a scene with a couple of trees basking in golden sunlight. I wanted this work to reflect the joy and levity I felt when strolling through the beautiful vegetation on the coasts of Jutland.
I think it comes naturally to many artists to romanticize the mundane, at least it does for me. This painting was an attempt to capture just that. To get out of my studio for once and just paint the world how I felt it, not just how I saw it.
A major inspiration for this painting was the work of Viktor Grachev. The painting was made alla prima.
